Why Building for the Future Requires Wisdom, Understanding, Reach, and, in most cases, change.

Proverbs 24:3-4 gives us one of the most compelling pictures of intentional growth in all of Scripture:

"By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures."

Allow us to paint a picture for you:

For decades, Orange has been a trusted house in a well-loved neighborhood.

It was a good house. People recognized it when they drove by. Generations of ministry leaders spent years inside its walls, leaving with core memories, trusted relationships, and foundational tools that shaped how they served their local churches. It wasn’t a perfect house, but it was deeply valued.

Over time, that house became part of the identity of an entire ministry community.

Some leaders lived near the house for decades. Others moved into new seasons, new neighborhoods. Even those who had never walked through the front door still knew its name because of its reputation.

Then came the season of breaking ground and building for better.

Moving In and Opening Up the Blueprint

When a home undergoes a major transformation, it isn’t because the foundation was broken. As Proverbs 24 reminds us, a house is built by wisdom, and wisdom recognizes when it is time to expand so that new rooms can be established to make space for more neighbours.

If you’ve been watching us or building with us for any length of time, you’ve likely noticed the dust of change.

Some of the changes were small: fresh paint, refined frameworks, repaired processes.

But other changes were massive:

• Walls came down to make room for new ways of serving the local church.
• Exterior spaces were redesigned to keep pace with a rapidly changing culture, while remaining biblically sound.
• Entirely new additions were built to support leaders, parents, and kids in today's unique environments.

From the inside, the blueprint made perfect sense. The vision was clear to the builders and those who had settled in, and they could see why expanding the footprint was necessary.

But from the street, construction can feel noisy, disruptive, and even inconvenient.

It’s completely natural to wonder: Why change something that was already working? Why not leave the old house alone?

Change in ministry tools can feel challenging - especially when it involves a partner you’ve trusted with your leaders and kids for years.

But true stewardship means honoring the original foundation, built decades earlier, while establishing new rooms that serve the generation standing right in front of us.

Reaching Beyond the Neighborhood

As we moved in and updated the spaces and expanded our walls, we realized a profound truth: The neighborhood we knew wasn't the only neighborhood in the whole world:
